Does it requires infrared light? Will it work outside, at the sun?

     

Being an active sensor, it emits IR light, we have really good IR band-pass filters but will have tracking issues if placed in direct sunlight. We are working on some more software tweaks to resolve this.

     

I was hopping to use it in a car. To measure the distance to other cars. If you say DUO uses IR lights like Kinect, that makes this device unfortunately useless to me :(

     

We mainly deal in the 850nm range, but you could use other specific ranges if you have right filters.
